About

Sikh Student Association (SSA) is a fully student run club where we focus on providing services to the Sikh students at UC Davis and anyone else who is in need. This includes hosting religious singing events that are open to anyone to sing and listen to Kirtan (religious form of singing). We have Seva events which are focused on community service and we make care packaged for homeless shelters or other small things for those in need. We do bake sales and other sorts of fundraising events through which, we raise money for these community service events. We also have really fun socials where Sikh students and many others could come together and create connections.

Benefits of Joining

  • Form strong friendships within your own community or another community if you are not Sikh or Punjabi.
  • Learn instruments or singing from our club members or just spend a peaceful night at our Kirtan nights listening to beautiful music.
  • Provide resources to our community at UC Davis because there are a lot of things that our collage provides but not everyone in our community knows how to actually access it.

Events

  • Quarterly or BiQuarterly Discussions (These discussions are mostly revolved around current world affairs like recent floods in India and how we can help)
  • Academic Advising Events (Help refine your resumes and interviewing skills)
  • Roots and Reflections Biweekly (A small discussion space where we talk about Sikhism and culture and other topics which students are interested in)
  • Tuesday Morning Simran Biweekly (Every other Tuesday morning from 6 am to 7 am, we do meditation and singing at the SCC Prayer Room)
