A club dedicated to studying and learning historical traditions of swordsmanship focused on European traditions but not exclusively.
The Davis Historical Fencing Club is primarily dedicated to the Kunst des Fechtens tradition of longsword fencing originally practiced in the 15th-16th century. Join us for weekly practices, intra-club fencing matches, and literature reviews. We are part of a larger, growing international movement called HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) which resurrects Europe's forgotten martial arts from the medieval to the early modern period. If you're looking for a serious martial art, a way to explore your nerdy love for swords and history, or something in between, we're the perfect club for you!
We have monthly socials; movie nights, hangouts, and gaming together online
Longswords lessons weekly from coaches with over decades of combined experience
"Fight Nights"; carpooling to the Sacramento HEMA school to do sparring with others
Learn how to move and swing a sword with weekly longsword lessons
Have fun exercising, drilling, and sparring with friends
Meet a community of like-minded people, who share your same enthusiasm for swordsmanship
New members can come to any meeting, we hold two meetings per week. Contact us on Discord for further information on times and locations. Also look out for us at Club Info Day, Aggie Day, and Picnic Day.
