We are a hub for Davis students to meet others, join film productions, and develop new ideas together.\n
Davis Filmmaking Society (DFS) is a student-run club designed to foster filmmaking talent and aspiration at UC Davis. Through workshops and movie-making, members help each other grow in the multifaceted art of film. Every role is pivotal to the success of a film. At DFS we value writers, producers, directors, production assistants, editors, and everyone behind the camera just as much as the actors in front of the camera.\n\nDFS is committed to being a social and educational club for filmmakers regardless of experience level. Working with actors, crafting a creative vision between the writer, director, and editor are all critical skills of the film industry. Our regular weekly meetings consist of workshops, socials, and screenings of DFS short films.\n\nWe encourage new filmmakers to join the club productions during the quarter, recruit other members for personal projects, and showcase their work in our end-of-the-year DFS Film Fest.

Annual DFS Film Festival.
Networking events with other creative organizations on campus.
Quarterly 24-hour film challenge.
Gain experience in all the steps of filmmaking. We believe the best way to learn these is to practice them! We have club-wide productions that allow those who are less experienced be on set or try different skills you're interested in.
Collaborate with other club members! You can check out our discord to join other club projects.
Attend workshops and events throughout the quarter for other opportunities to create and tell your stories!
We do not require any dues or application process to join. We just ask you show up to meetings, be excited to work with other people, and pitch your projects! General meetings are announced before the quarter starts on our Discord and Instagram. These are once a week for 1 hour to 1.5 hours.\n
